Eden Blanket

Over the Easter break, we took the boys down to Cornwall for a week of beaches, pasties and cream teas.

One of the main reasons we chose Cornwall was to visit the Eden Project and it seems we picked the perfect time to see their awesome displays of spring tulips.  These beauties were growing in the Mediterranean biome and I left feeling totally inspired to make a tulip blanket!

I followed the Tulips in a Row pattern found here, using Stylecraft Special DK and a 4mm hook.

As much as possible I wanted to follow the colour sequence of the tulips I’d seen at the Eden Project so decided to hook the ‘tulips’ in shades of Apricot, Mustard, Soft Peach, Fuchsia Purple, Pale Rose, Lipstick, Spice, Fondant, Plum and Citron.  For the ‘leaves’ I used Kelly Green and the bands in-between were hooked in Cream.

It was such a fun blanket to make and I’m delighted with how it’s turned out.  It’s available to buy now in my Folksy shop!
