This week I’m feeling pretty good as I’ve held my first two ‘Get Hooked on Crochet’ workshops in Harborne and Selly Oak, Birmingham.
On Tuesday evening, I was joined by four lovely ladies at Boston Tea Party, Harborne. I took them through the basics of crochet: from holding the yarn and hook, through slipknots and chain stitches, to double and treble crochet. I was really chuffed at how quickly they picked it up and their lovely, positive feedback after the session. One trainee hooker didn’t quite get the hang of it on the night but then made my day with an email on Thursday, saying that something had clicked and she’d successfully hooked four rows. So proud!
This morning, I ran my second Basics workshop at Creative Coffee Hub in Selly Oak. It’s a lovely little café run by Tamara and really kid-friendly. Seven women and two 8 year-olds came along for the workshop and we had a lovely, chilled session. It was great to see total beginners alongside those who had crocheted before but needed a refresher.
Next up in a couple of weeks – Get Hooked on Crochet: Granny Squares!
